Wordtracker:
The #1 Keyword Search Tool
Find the best
keywords for your
website.
Amateurs
guess.
Professionals know.
With Wordtracker you'll know which are the best keywords to drive more
traffic
to your sites.
What
Can
Wordtracker Do For My Website?
We compile a
database of terms
that people search for. You enter some keywords, and we tell you how
often
people search for them, and also tell you how many competing sites use
those
keywords.
Wordtracker
helps you find all
keyword combinations that bear any relation to your business, service
or
product - many of which you might never have considered.

You'll find
out how popular these
keywords really are.
![[screenshot] Keywords with their popularity count.](http://www.wordtracker.com/i/tour-keyword-database-results.gif)
Then for each
major search engine,
directory, and pay-per-click service we'll show you how many other
sites will
be competing with you.

These are the
three main tools within Wordtracker.
Next we will
show you how these tools are used in practice...
Use
Wordtracker To Brainstorm
You now have
a general idea of what Wordtracker does. So let's show you an example
of how to
get started.
Begin with
your own keyword list — you need at least one keyword, or
keyword phrase,
though most users begin with a few dozen terms. Let's say you start
with
nothing more than the term golf.
![[screenshot] The textbox for entering your initial keyword.](http://www.wordtracker.com/i/tour-database.gif)
Ask
Wordtracker to suggest similar
and related keywords, and it will use your term to search two major
search
engines, then visit similar sites to pull a total of 300 keywords from
those
sites' meta tags. You started with golf, and
Wordtracker now suggests pga, clubs,
putter, tips, and
hundreds of other golf-related
terms.
![[screenshot] List of keywords related to your initial keyword.](http://www.wordtracker.com/i/tour-related.gif)
At
this
stage, you don't know if people actually search using this term?
Discover
What
People Are Actually Searching For
Wordtracker
uses its
database of over 300 million searches from MetaCrawler.com and
DogPile.com over
the last 90 days to find the popularity of the term you picked.
![[screenshot] List of putter-related keywords with popularity statistics.](http://www.wordtracker.com/i/tour-keyword-database-results.gif)
So we can
look at this information
and see that the term putters has been typed into
the search engines 214
times over the last 90 days.
When
Wordtracker searches its databases
for you, it will find some terms that are useful to you and others that
are
not. In some cases most of the terms it returns are terms you are
interested
in. In other cases only a few are. You now have to select which words
are most
appropriate.
Cherry-pick
Keywords with High Popularity and Low Competition
Wordtracker
allows you to assess
the value of the keywords you have selected in the leading search
engines,
directories, and pay-per-click services.
Find the
balance between the total
number of competing Web pages for each search engine and the popularity
of the
search term. Then attack the niches!

So in Google
our putter-related
keywords have the following competition:
![[screenshot] Putter-related keywords with popularity and competition statistics.](http://www.wordtracker.com/i/tour-competition-results.gif)
We could
target our original term putters,
which has 1,690,000 Web pages in Google competing for 36 searches every
24
hours. However as we can see from the results above there are far
better terms
to target.
Take golf
putter choice.
This has 18 searches every 24 hours but ONLY 33 competing web pages in
Google. Custom
putter has 45 searches every 24 hours and only 2,640
competing web pages!
There
are literally hundreds of
these niche phrases you could target. This tool is available for all of
the top
search engines.
Manage
Your Keyword Projects
Wordtracker
lets you organize your
search engine marketing campaigns into different keyword
projects.

With
these you can:

seven different keyword lists at any time
- Assign a name
to each project
- Select the
project you want to work with currently
- Empty the
keyword list
- Import
keywords into the list
- Export
keywords from the list
For
each project,
Wordtracker provides you with all the information you have used to
build your
